Framing continues

Construction is still running at a wonderful pace. We have completed all the framing of the walls, windows and doors. This weekend we will begin the installation of the roof framing which will bring us that much closer to a completed house. Our goal is to have the framing completed by Friday of this next week and start sheathing the house by next weekend.

Framing

The house is coming together!!!! This week has flown by with all the construction that has gone on at the site. As you can remember we poured concrete last week and after letting the concrete cure for 4 days and also waiting on the weather to clear up. We began to frame the house and for all you who don't know construction lingo this is where the walls of the house make their first appearance and to me the most gratifying process.

We began the framing process on Wednesday when we had our first shipment of lumber hit the site and by Friday afternoon one could begin to make out the general layout of rooms, walkways, window and door placement in the house. Take a look for yourself.....

Concrete pour

Hello everyone! This week has been a very productive week for us. We have completed all the foundation work and once the concrete cures we can begin the framing of the house. Which I must say is probably the part I have been waiting for the most. This class/project has been a very educational experience for me but I know I still have so much more to learn. I'm very happy with our progress and cant wait to see how the rest of the year goes.

Below are some pictures from this week.

Form work

This week has been so exciting for me!!! We have begun the construction on the house. It doesn't look like much in the photos but we have had worked every day for 10 hours since Sunday. I love being out there working even though its back breaking work I could be out there all day every day.

The sounds of the construction site is like music to my ears. Such as the powerful thud of a sledge hitting a stake and the somewhat high pitch of a hammer hitting a nail. I don't think it could get any better. Let the fun begin!!!

Form work for the concrete

The concrete will be poured on Monday if the weather will let us finish our work.

Even though there is a lot of excitement around the site I also want to recognize and give a big thank you to my buddy Tim and all the employees at Tango Transports for let us borrow one of their trailers as our storage trailer. Thank you!!!
