20 DAYS until Graduation......

Another productive week!!! The project seems to be moving at a fairly good pace now. We have completed all the siding and we have also painted it. The inside is coming together as well we have painted the inside. We are working on cleaning up all the edges and wrapping the painting up.

Today we also hung a lot of the electrical fixtures and will probably finish that tomorrow. I'm sorry but i do not have pictures of that I will have those for yall next time.

27 Days and counting

This week has been an ok week. We have made more progress on the house. The exterior is coming together with almost all of the siding placed on the house and we have begun painting the siding. The sheetrock is almost complete as well. The crew that has come out and helped us is working on the floating and taping and will begin sanding soon. After that is done we will begin painting the interior.

Another big THANK YOU  goes out to Encana for bringing another large group of volunteers out on Friday to help with the house!!

A big step forward

This week has definitely been one of the more productive weeks we have had. The ball started to role on Tuesday when we had a group of guys come in and spray the foam insulation. As you probably remember from my last post. Then as a class we took Wednesday to prep for sheetrock crew who came out on Friday and they have taken the house by storm and almost finished hanging all the sheetrock.  Friday was by far the most productive day of them all. We had a crew of about 10 or so people from Encana ( a natural gas company out of Shreveport) who helped us on the exterior and as I mentioned earlier the sheetrock crew was working on the interior. Friday was a good day!!!

Progress

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!! The habiTECH group has been on break this weekend too but the first part of this week has been very productive. We now have insulation in the walls and ceiling and will begin sheetrock within the week. We have also begun hanging the hardi board which is a particular type of siding . The house is coming together and I believe the next few weeks will be very productive. We have 40 days till graduation!!!

Rough Week

This week has been very stressful for the HabitTECH group. We have had several setbacks due to our building inspector. We didn't pass the electrical inspection, the windows didn't pass inspection, and the inspector wouldn't even look at the mechanical system yet because the windows weren't up to code.  This has put us a week behind because we couldn't spray insulation on Thursday like we had planned.  Our goal is to get back on track by having the inspector come out early this week and then break up into teams: interior and exterior.  Hopefully this will get the ball rolling and we'll finish the house by May 19.
